Plug-in working crossing flashers
I created several of these plug-in crossing flashers. They all began as a standard audio
mini-plug. The base of the plug was ground down to make the concrete footing. The inner
connector shaft was soldered to the pole, and a piece of shrink-wrap tube formed both the
insulator and the simulated mount at the base of the pole.
Note that the flashers are facing in odd directions; this is often done where side
streets meet the road that crosses the tracks. The one below has three sets of flashers in a
different orientation; it also has a bell, which is a slice of brass rod soldered to the top
of the pole.
