Flying high over the White River and Northern
This undated "aerial" shot shows some of the progress made from the previous image.
Centered in the view is a farm beside a creek (still "dry" at the time). At the top right is the
White River Junction passenger station; at the center far right is the Stephen A. Greene Charcoal Company;
and just right of center on the bottom edge is the Bearcamp station. Arcing up from the lower left is a
curved wooden trestle. The bright blotches scattered around the two stations are pieces of masking tape
used to patch together the corrugated cardboard subroadbed.
 Image specs: Originally a color Polaroid
print, the lighting—provided by a single 60-watt desk lamp on my adjacent workbench—resulted in an almost
unusable image (shown unprocessed at right); conversion to black and white literally saved this photograph.
The only other digital manipulation was dust spec removal. Nothing could be done about the blur from
camera shake, I'm afraid.
