From this angle, track wiring is visible. Bundles of wires led to terminal strips mounted along the inner edge of the layout surface using the same double-stick foam tape as was used for tracklaying. Slots for turnout linkage are also visible to the right of center. Turnouts were powered with Tortoise switch machines.

Image specs: The embarrassingly poor quality of this image is due to the fact that it was taken with a non-flash disposable camera using available light, which is all I had on hand at the time. But... a poor-quality image is somewhat better than none at all. I converted it to black-and-white for better effect—it was otherwise nothing more than a garish mass of blue-green.
