Autumnal Reverie

Bucolic Bucks County in Pennsylvania is beautiful year-round, but early autumn is particularly lovely, and in this setting we have many opportunities to enjoy the New Hope and Ivyland in a series of long, lingering looks at Consolidated #40 as she steams through the photogenic countryside. We start with some brief vignettes from a few my favorite vantage points; there's much more to come.

Episode 1: #40 at Aquetong Road

#40 ambles up the grade toward Aquetong Road on an early Autumn afternoon, circa 1996. You might be fooled into thinking the video is silent, but it's just that #40 is quite far away, so crank up the sound as she approaches the bend! Uploaded 11 April 2008; 3-1/2 minutes.

Episode 2: #40 at Nonesuch Farm

After crossing Lower Mountain Road, #40 drifts through the fields of Nonesuch Farm as she approaches Lahaska station on an early Autumn afternoon, circa 1996. Uploaded 18 April 2008; 2 minutes. Note that the view of Nonesuch Farm is no longer possible since houses now occupy the field.

Episode 3: Leaving New Hope

#40 leaves New Hope, Pennsylvania, with a load of happy railfans in tow. This is a compilation of clips from June 1992 through the fall of 1996 or thereabouts. Uploaded 13 October 2009; 5-1/2 minutes. Notice how #40 has had three different whistles over the years.
